Learning Design

Featured Learning Assets

In my current consulting role at nectar.inc, I collaborate with colleges and universities to reimagine online and hybrid learning across disciplines—from Cybersecurity and Public Health to Commerce and Digital Storytelling. As part of a cross-functional team, I lead the design of engaging, accessible, and outcomes-driven learning experiences that support both faculty innovation and student success.

This role has challenged me to translate complex, technical content into meaningful, learner-friendly experiences—often in subject areas that are new to me. I regularly draw on my background in creative writing, instructional design, and coaching to bring clarity, personality, and strategy to each project. Whether I’m building a course design kit, writing student-facing copy, or guiding a stressed SME through a major course redesign, I blend empathy with structure to keep things moving—and keep the learning human.

I’ve also led the development of interactive assets using tools like H5P, Brightspace, ClickUp, SharePoint, and Canvas. For example, I partnered with Dr. Dhananji Amaratunge (Director of Microsoft Security Copilot) to create a series of gamified crosswords and companion study guides for a cybersecurity course—turning weekly content review into a metacognitive growth opportunity. Projects like these reflect what I love most about instructional design: the opportunity to learn something new every day, collaborate with smart and passionate people, and create learning that works.

Cybersecurity Crossword Challenge

Gamified Content Review & Learning Strategy

As part of CUNY’s Online Excellence Initiative, I partnered with the Director of Microsoft CoPilot and a cybersecurity professor to design weekly interactive crossword puzzles that gamify technical content. When learners encountered challenges, I co-created a companion study guide that reframed the activity as a scaffolded metacognitive tool.

Instructional Impact

  • Applied gamification to increase engagement and encourage repetition

  • Promoted self-directed learning and confidence among nontraditional learners

  • Iterated based on learner feedback to support both content mastery and study skills development

This project highlights:
My ability to transform content review into inclusive, game-based learning tools that promote both confidence and metacognition.

What | asynchronous online cornerstone course for incoming 2nd year students

As Learning Design Lead, I am solely responsible for the end-to-end development of a nine-week, asynchronous course that will be a cornerstone experience for 400 incoming students per year. I am leveraging everything in my diverse skillset as I coordinate course development with nine staff leads and three administrators (who bring expertise but no classroom teaching experience); generate multimedia assets that will appeal to students, donors, and board members; design assessments that evaluate a range of hard and soft skills; and coordinate media production with a remote internal team. I write original video scripts to make learning memorable and design knowledge checks and branching scenarios that allow learners to influence the direction of their learning experience and engage with content in an active, story-driven way.
